Vigo, 27 November 2024.- Today, Rodman Polyships has held a ceremony to commemorate its 50th anniversary at its facilities in Moaña, where authorities, collaborators, clients and the business network that have accompanied the shipyard in its half century of history were present.

From its origins in a modest workshop in Vigo, Rodman Polyships has become the oldest company in the sector in Spain and a reference in the shipbuilding industry. In these 50 years, with more than 2,000 employees and three production centres in the Vigo Bay, and with a surface area of 162,000 m2, it has transformed the shipbuilding industry in Spain and globally, manufacturing more than 15,000 vessels, from patrol boats to luxury yachts and offshore vessels.

During the event, Manuel Rodríguez, president of the Rodman Group, has reasserted the company’s commitment to quality, sustainability and technological innovation, all of which are the pillars of the new projects that are already underway. These include the development of vessels with hybrid and electric propulsion systems, new models of patrol boats of up to 50 metres in length with heliport, and the design of state-of-the-art yachts and mega yachts which seek to meet the demands of a constantly evolving market and which will be a benchmark in terms of technology, comfort and exclusivity.

 “This anniversary sets a milestone in our history and reaffirms our commitment to continue building vessels that blend innovation, quality and respect for the environment, with our focus on a sustainable and competitive future in the shipbuilding industry. We are also working on the digitalisation of design and production processes and on research into advanced materials to improve the performance and durability of the vessels,’ he pointed out.

The company has consolidated its position as a leader in the manufacture of fibreglass reinforced polyester (GRP) boats and has provided a response to the safety and durability requirements of its customers in more than 65 countries. These include the Spanish Navy, the Customs Surveillance Service, the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard, Pescanova, the Xunta de Galicia (Regional Government) and Governments such as Portugal, Belgium, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Saudi Arabia and Oman, among others.

During the ceremony, the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, stressed that ‘the Rodman Group of today, the oldest company in Spain in its sector, is the result of a pioneering idea and the work of many. You are a reference here and in Europe, part of the Powerful Galicia that we want to build together thanks to the quality, innovative and committed work, both with our people and with the naval sector’.

Among other authorities, the Delegate of the Government in Galicia, Pedro Blanco; the Regional Councillor for Economy of the Xunta de Galicia (Galician Government), María Jesús Lorenzana; the Regional Councillor for Employment, Trade and Emigration, José González; the President of the Pontevedra Provincial Council, Luis López; the Mayor of Moaña, Leticia Santos; and the Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, also took part in the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
